The annual Paul A. Robert Award was presented by the Binghamton, NY Section of the American Society for Quality at its May 6, 2017 Quality Day Conference, which was held at the Innovative Technologies Center at Binghamton University.
The award is presented to a local member of the community that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to supporting the Binghamton Section and the local business community in promoting product and service quality. Presented since 1965, the award is in honor of the local section’s founder, Paul A. Robert. The local section was actually formed back in 1947 to preserve and propagate knowledge learned by the military after World War II.
The 2017 award was presented to Claudia S. Beebe, currently a Personnel Assistant in Human Resources at Binghamton University.
Prior to joining Binghamton University, Mrs. Beebe worked at the American Civic Association as an office manager, where she received accreditation by the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) for reception and placement of refugees and immigrant’s resettlement program and Matching Grant.
She started working in the United States at SUNY Broome as International coordinator for the SEED Program (Scholarships for Education and Economic Development), where she was a leader and mentor for more than 80 International students. Her role required strong bilingual communication and ability to assist and inspire students to join clubs and association as: Toastmaster, Lingo Net and ASQ Binghamton branch where the students were participating actively in the student branch during the last four years.
Originally from Colombia, Claudia has a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University in Colombia in Business Administration, and an Associates with honors in International Business from SUNY Broome. She has more than 15 years of experience working in Colombian industry with emphasis in quality and supply chain in multicultural companies as: Bayer, Wella and United Phosphorus in Colombia.
In addition to her award, Binghamton University was provided with the Paul A. Robert historical commemorative plaque showing past recipients of the award. The plaque will be on display at BU for the current award period. The plaque was accepted by Victoria Metritikas, the Assistant Director of Human Resources, Systems and Operations at Binghamton University.
